In Nigeria, Africa precisely we're so much clued to the introductions of the whites i.e our colonial master and 80% of things practiced in Nigeria are inventories of the whites so therefore when you try to do other wise you're automatically seen as village man.
According to history, there was already existing practices ongoing even before the invasion of the colonial masters, practices like system of worship, language and culture practices. This article will be centered on the Masquerade cultural practice, which is one the known major African culture.
After the colonial Invasion which lead to the vandalization of some practices, masquerade practice was also tampered with as religion (Christianity) cultivated the believe that it was demonic and witchcraft. But on the other side, we failed to realize that masquerade practice is also practiced by the whites which they call Halloween.
In the western world, Just like Halloween , Masquerade practice is also mapped and recognized and also involves the putting on of scary costumes. Most people who believe masquerade practice as being demonic also indulge in Halloweens ignorantly believing it's a different ball game.
Masquerade practice is one the African’s cultural signature, practiced for decades. it's season people come together to socialize and have fun so therefore shouldn't be seen as a demonic or witchcraft.
