Driving Profession In Nigeria

In Nigeria, driving is a profession that offers competitive compensation, whether as a private driver, government driver, or public driver. However, it is also perceived as a common job associated with the general populace.

Although I have not traveled to advanced countries, I have conducted analysis based on testimonies from individuals who have had the opportunity to visit those places, as well as information gathered from movies and news available online and on television. From this, I can conclude that Nigeria is quite different.

Since becoming a driver does not necessitate extensive education, many individuals enter the system without understanding the standard procedures, such as attending a driving school and passing a driving test to be certified as drivers. The result of this ignorance has diminished the perceived value of driving as a profession. The normal culture here states that as long as an individual can operate a vehicle I.e forward and reverse, they are considered a driver.

The majority of drivers in Nigeria currently operate their vehicles without a valid license. The devaluation of the driving profession in Nigeria is attributed to several factors, which are:
1. Many drivers bypass the necessary driving procedures, such as attending a driving school or receiving formal education, to become professional drivers.

In Nigeria, a significant number of drivers do not have the required educational training or driving skills, which contributes to a problematic relationship between drivers and their customers.
This process of acquisition will assist a driver's understanding of respectful interactions with others, as well as their awareness of ethical standards within the system.

2. In Nigeria, drivers often resemble mechanics in their appearance. Some might argue that driving is considered a task associated with dirtiness, making the effort to dress well seem unnecessary. However, presenting oneself nicely is important as it can attract positive attention and energy.

3.The practice of not saving among drivers diminishes the value of driving as a profession. When a driver is unable to repair their vehicle when it malfunctions or lacks alternative sources of income, it may be perceived as a significant lack of competence. Additionally, suggesting borrowing can harm the reputation of the job.

4. Reckless driving, alcohol use, and infidelity contribute to a negative perception of driving. Avoiding these shortcomings will gradually enhance the reputation of driving as a profession. For those emerging from it, pursuing driving as a career in Nigeria is a viable option. If being a driver is considered a negative occupation, why do the majority of drivers end up in Yankee? The difference is minimal; it primarily lies in a lack of discipline in certain no.
