
In 1998, she initiated and coordinated the first Felabration event, which has been conducted every October since 2005 as a week-long concert honoring the life and legacy of Fela. Yeni Kuti also played a key role in establishing the New Afrika Shrine.
In 2012, she co-founded the Kalakuta Museum with prominent architect Theo Lawson, to whom she is currently engaged.
Femi Kuti was born in 1962 in London to Fela and Remi. He formed his Afrobeat band, known as 'The Positive Force,' in 1986 after departing from his father's band, "Egypt 80." Femi joined his father's band in 1979 and assumed leadership of the band in 1984 after his father was incarcerated.
Currently, Femi Kuti co-directs the New Afrika Shrine with his sister, Yeni. Four of Femi Kuti's albums have received Grammy nominations.
Sola was the second daughter of Fela and his first wife, Remi. She was born in 1963 and passed away a few weeks after her father's death at the age of 34. Sola Kuti had previously been a dancer in her father's band, similar to her older sibling, Yeni. She passed away due to a misdiagnosis of cancer as an ulcer.
Kunle was born in 1971 and he is the manager of the Kalakuta Museum.
Shalewa Kuti was born in 1976 in Lagos to Adefunmilayo Anikulapo Kuti, a nursing sister and one of the spouses of Fela Kuti. Shalewa is a qualified lawyer and DJ, known professionally as DJ SHAARKS.
Motunrayo Kuti was previously a dancer in Femi's Afrobeat band, and she is now a social media influencer. She has also recently established a record label named 'Ifeniomous Entertainment.' According to her, the record label was created in honor of her daughter, Ifeniola, and the name of the label is derived from her daughter's name. Motunrayo Kuti stated that the record label serves as a platform for her daughter's future.
Seun Kuti was born in Lagos in 1983 to Fehintola Anikulapo Kuti, who was a dancer with Fela's band and one of his wives married in 1978. Seun Kuti began performing on stage with his father at the age of 8 and assumed leadership of the "Egypt 80" band following his father's passing in August 1997.
