Living in Ungwan Sunday, Kaduna, Mrs. Stephen claimed that her husband physically assaulted her each time she refused his sexual advances, after being married for six years.
She expressed to the court her desire to end the marriage, stating that she could no longer handle his excessive sexual demands. "I request the court to dissolve this marriage as I can't tolerate his overwhelming sexual desire. He wants sex excessively, which is unbearable for me.
"Often, he would want to have sex with me from midnight until the early morning hours. Even when I'm crying, he continues.
"For the last three months, I've been living apart from him, and while his family has been trying to convince me to return, they are unaware of my struggles," she explained.
Additionally, she mentioned that her husband loses control when he craves sex, and when she turns him down, he resorts to beating her in front of their two children.
In response, Stephen expressed to the court that he loves his wife and requested the court's assistance in reconciling with her, urging that the divorce not be granted.
He noted that he has been trying to convince her to reconsider her decision, claiming he is now prepared to manage his sexual urges. "I took my uncles and friends to her parents' house to ask her to reconsider, but she refused to listen and left us," Stephen shared.
He asked the court for more time to resolve the issues and reconcile with Linda.
Judge John Dauda postponed the case until May 6 to allow for an update on the reconciliation efforts and advised both parties to keep the peace.
